رَأْيُهُ فيما قَدْ جَرَى سَدِيْدُ(3)
واثْنَانِ ثمَّ أَرْبَعُونَ عُمْـرُهُ(5)
وكَمْ مَبَرَّاتٍ لَهُ جَسِيْمَهْ(7)

وقَامَ بَعْدَهُ ابْنُهُ الوَلِيْـدُ
عَشْرَاً مِنَ السِّنِينِ دَامَ مُلْكُهُ(4) فَكَمْ فُتُوحَاتٍ لَهُ عَظِيْمَهْ(6)

Obverse.

-engraved : None has the right to be worshipped except Allah and Muhammad his messenger .He it is Who has sent His Messenger

(Muhammad ) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam), that He may make it (Islam) superior over all religions.

Reverse.

engraved : "He is Allah, (the) One. "Allah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks). "He begets not, nor was He begotten

Footnote: By the name of Allah, this Dinar was mint in the year 88 A.H

(1) He is Al-Walid bin Abdul Malik bin Marwan I ibn Abi Aas bin Umayya bin Shams bin Abd mnav.

(2) Al-Walid assumed the Caliphate according to the life of his father in Ramadan and after the death of his father in the month of Shawwal in the year 86a.h, ALBaiya’a was renewed for him in Damascus and Egypt. (ALbedaia w alnehaia 8/260 ) .

He died in the middle of Shawwal in (23rd February 715). (The completed History 4/237 ).

(3) In the year 87a.h, he set about the building of the mosque at Damascus and ordered the enlargement of the mosque of the prophet and its thorough construction. (The History of Caliphs’ 224 ) .

(4) His succession was nine years and seven months, and was told Nine years and eight months, others told, and eleven-months (The completed History 4/291 ).

(5) His age when died was forty two years and six months and was told forty five years old also told forty nine (The completed History 4/291 ).

(6) Al Syoti said that in the year of 87 a.h Bbkand was taken by force of arms as well as Bukhara, Sardinia , Matmoirah, Kumayqm and the Persian Gulf.

In the year 88 Jurthumah and Tuanah were taken. And in the year 89a.h, the islands of Majorca and Minorca. In the year 91a.h were captured Nasaf^ and Kash, Shiiman, and other towns and forts by the Caspian Sea. In the year 92 the whole of Spain was subdued and the cities of Armiil also Katarbon. In the year 93a.h Daybal and other places were conquered, and Kirakh, Barham, Bajah, al Baidha, Khuwrazm, Samarkand, and Sughd. In 94, Kabul, Farghanah, Shash and Sandarah were taken. in 95, Mokantt and Darband. In 96, Tus and other places . In this year Caliph al Walid died in the middle of Jumdda'l Akkirah at the age of fifty-one.(Caliphs History 224).

(7) Ad Dahabi said that religious wars were continuous throughout his reign, and great conquests were made as in the time of Omar-b-u'l Khattab. Omar-b-A'bdi'l A'ziz said, " when I put al Walid in his grave, behold he kicked in his shroud, that is, he struck the earth with his foot.” ( Caliphs History 225 ).
