بَعْدَ أَبِيْهِ إِذْ نَوَى اسْتِخْلافَهْ(3)

دَاهِيَـةٍ وعَـالِمٍ جَـلِيْـلِ
لابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ فَهُوَ اعْوِجَاجِ(4)
فَـإِنَّهُ مـا سَاءَهُ في فِعْلِـهِ
بِجُرْفِه (5) إِحْدَى وعِشْرِيْنَ سَنَهْ(6) 
خمسونَ مَعْ ثَلاثٍ زَالَ بَدْرُهُ(7)

مَعَ الثَّمَانِينَ أَتَتْ بِالثَّبْتِ(8)

و نَالَ عبدُ الملكِ الخِلافَهْ

أَعْظِمْ بِهِ مِنْ حَـازِمٍ نَبِيْـلِ
وكانَ مَا كَانَ مِنَ الحَجَّاجِ
فَهْـوَ و إِنْ لمْ يَرْضَهُ بِقَوْلِـهِ
بَقِيْ في الخِلافَةِ المُعَـزَّزَهْ

ومَاتَ مِنْ شَرْبَةِ مَاْ ، وَعُمْرُهُ
مِنْ خمسِ والسِّتِّينَ حَتَّى السِّتّ

-He it is Who has sent His Messenger (Muhammad  ) with guidance and the religion of truth (Islam), that He may make it (Islam) superior over all religions

Reverse.

-engraved : "He is Allah, (the) One. "Allah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master, Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks).

-He begets not, nor was He begotten.

Footnote: By the name of Allah, this Dinar was mint in the year 78 A.H.

(1) He is Abdul Malik bin Marwan I ibn Abi al-Aas Bin Umayya bin Shams bin Abdmnav.

(2) He Was acknowledged Caliph in his fathers’ life, in the third of Ramadan, then Albaiya’a was renewed to him after the death of his father  in Damascus , Egypt and surroundings (AL-Bedaiya w Al-Nehaia 8/260 ). 

He died in the middle of Shawal in the year 86 A.H  (The completed History 4/237).

(3) He Was acknowledged Caliph according to the covenant of his father, during the Caliphate of Ibn u'z Zubayr, but his Caliphate was not valid, but only he continued as a usurper over Egypt and Syria.(The history of Caliphas 214 ) .

(4) Ibn AlKathir said : Ibn u'z Zubayr was slain in the year 73a.h, by al Hajjaj Bin Yousif Al-Thaqafi may Allah disgrace him. Al-Waqidi said: Musab Bin Nafie Mawlaa bani Asad  who was familiar with fitna told me : Ibn Alzubair  was restrained in the night of the middle of Dhul Alhijja in the year of 72 A.H. and was slain on Tuesday the 17th of JuMada'l Awwal, in the year 73 A.H, which means that al Hajjaj kept Ibn ALzubair within boundaries for five months and seventeen days knowing that al Hajjaj in that year performed Hajj with the people and in Alhajj there was Ibn Omar . Abdul Malik Bin Marwan wrote to Alhajjaj to make Ibn Omar his Imam during ALHajj rituals as proved in ALSahehan (B) .

As that year begun when the Levant are under siege by Mekkah people, as AlHajjaj  put mangonel to restrict the people to obey Abdul Malik , knowing that AlHabasha was accompanied by him who throw a lot of mangonel , stones and torches were cast down upon  Mecca and killed a huge number of people, also AlHajjaj blocked them the water and supplies so they used to drink from Zamzam water , as the rocks were dropping on Kaaba, AlHajjaj was exclaiming to his companions saying: “O Levant Allah Allah hurry to  obedience”. The Syrians tried to attack Ibn AlZubair who tried to get them out from Bani Shayba gate, they repeated attacking him many times and said that many of the people were killed .

They told Ibn Alzubair why  he does not speak to them for conciliation he answered : Wa Allah if they find you in the middle of the Kaaba they would slay you all and he refused .

A lot mentioned that when mangonel were casting, the sound of thunder and lightning were very loud , and a blot of light stroked some Syrians and killed 12 men and others were killed from AlHajjaj group , the blots continue  burning from both sides and the Syrians were terrified and stopped fighting , when:

Mecca people start leaving Al-Zubair to ALHajjaj who offered them protection until they reach 10.000 person and AL-Zubair was left with almost little people to support him ,until the two sons of Ibn AlZubair left him seeking protection from AlHajjaj Hamza and ALKhubaib ,then Abdullah bin Zubair  went to his mother-Asmaa Bint Abu Bakr  may Allah be pleased with them both and expressed  his  discontent and  how most of his family ,friends and companions betrayed and left him to AlHajjaj with no patience and ask her what shall he must do .She replied him: "You know better in your own self that if you are upon the truth and you are calling towards the truth go forth for people more honorable than you were killed and have been killed and if you are not upon the truth, then what an evil son you are, you have destroyed yourself and those who are with you. If you say what you say, that if you are upon the truth and you will be killed at the hands of others then you will not truly be free, for this is not the statement of someone who is free".

Then Asma' bint Abu Bakr said to her son, this is the statement of the mother to her son,"how long will you live in this world, death is more beloved to me than this state you are on/ this state of weakness."

Then this conversation between Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr and his mother continued

Then Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr said to his mother after she had told him to go forth and fight, he said, "I am afraid I will be mutilated by the people of Sham, I am afraid that they will cut up my body after they have killed me"

So she said to her son, "after someone has died it won't make any difference what they do to you if you have been killed."

He said to her, "I did not come to you except to increase me in knowledge, look and pay attention to this day for verily I am a dead man, your son never drank wine, nor was he fornicator, nor did he wrong any Muslim or Non-Muslim, nor was he unjust, I am not saying this to you to show off or show how pure I am but rather as an honour to you."

So then Abd Allah ibn al-Zubayr left by him on his horse and this was the last time he saw his mother, and said that he was go out from the main gate of Alharam mosque to fight 5000 knight and his forces gave up their watch station. The enemy outnumbered him as in every  gate: troops from Hims held the gate facing the door of the Ka’aba, troops from Damascus held the Banu Shayba gate, troops from Jordan held the Safa gate, troops from Palestine held the Banu Jumah gate,and troops from Qinnisrin held the Banu Sahm gate. while Al Hajjaj and Tariq were togather at the lowest part of the hollow.

Months. He had no defensive trench, no fortress, no stronghold, yet he held his own against us as an equal, and even got the better of us when-ever we met with him.”Their words were reported to Abd al-Malik who Declared Tariq Right.

Makkah erupted with crying and al Hajjaj ibn Yusuf Ath-Thaqafi stood up and said, “O’ people! Know ‘AbduLlah was the best of people but when he rebelled against the Califah, then he had to be removed from Makkah for Prophet Adam was best of people but when he rebelled against the command of Allah, he was removed from Jannah and prophet Adam is better than ‘AbduLlah ibn Zubayr and Jannah is better than Makkah, and Abdullah Ibn Alzubair changed the Holy book.

Abudllah bin Omar said: if I wanted to tell you that you lied, AlZubair did not change the holy book but he was straight, following the Islamic religion principles . ALHajjaj wrote a letter  to Abdul Malik about what happened accompanied with the head of  Ibn AlZubair , Abudllah ibn Safwan and Amara bin Hazim and he ordered them when they pass ALMadena to the heads for people to see and then take it as hanged to Syria and they did then they sent the hanged heads with a man from AL-Azd who went with it to Abdul Malik who gave him five hundred dinar and brought (pair of) scissors and took from forelock of him and his sons celebrating  the happiness of killing Abdullah Alzubair .

AlHajjaj  ordered his people to stuck Ibn Alzubair body up on a cross which stayed as that until and the men of al Hajjaj were saying, “Allahu Akbar, Takbir!” until  Abdullah Ibn Omar  passed by and said: I was there the day Abdullah was born and I am here the day he has died, and I heard those who said Takbir the day he was born and I heard those who have said Takbir the day he has died, and I swear by Allah those who said Takbir the day when he was born were far greater than those who have said Takbir today! May Allah mercy your soul ya Aba Khabab .

And asked them to Take the body down, as it has been up for days.” Then men of Alhajjaj took him down and buried him .

Then AlHajjaj went  to Mecca to take  Oth of Allegiance –ALBaya’a  from its people  to Abdul Malik bin Marwan, and he remains staying there as  resident while he was also -Waly-ruler  at AlYaman ,Mecca and ALYamamah (ALBedaiab w alNehayai 8/329-332).

(5) (Bejarfehe) ,the man is insulted when described as –Jarf Menhal – which means that the man has no judiciousness or intellect . (Lisan al Arab 11/713 ).

(6) Ibn Al-Athir said: He ruled since the killing of Ibn ALZubair thirteen years , three months and 23 days. Others told and three months and fifteen days (the completed history 4/237 ) .

(7) As his illness intensified, some doctors told him to stop drinking water or he will die. Until he was too thirsty ,and asked for water, while everyone refused, his son daughter was thinking to give him water knowing that her father Al-Walid prevented her from doing it, until Abdul Malik told him  that if he did not let her give him water he will deposition him !! Al-Walid let his daughter  to give him water until he died.

When he died he was sixty years old, and some said sixty-three years old .( The completed History 4/237).

(8) His caliphate lasted started form year 65 till 86 a.h including the period when Inb AlZubair was legitimate Calipha

• Narrated Salim:`Abdul Malik wrote to Al-Hajjaj that he should not differ from Ibn `Umar during Hajj. On the Day of `Arafat, when the sun declined at midday, Ibn `Umar came along with me and shouted near Al- Hajjaj's cotton (cloth) tent. Al-Hajjaj came Out, wrapping himself with a waist-sheet dyed with safflower, and said, "O Abu `Abdur-Rahman! What is the matter?" He said, If you want to follow the Sunna (the tradition of the Prophet (p.b.u.h) ) then proceed (to `Arafat)." Al-Hajjaj asked, "At this very hour?" Ibn `Umar said, "Yes." He replied, "Please wait for me till I pour some water over my head (i.e. take a bath) and come out." Then Ibn `Umar dismounted and waited till Al-Hajjaj came out. So, he (Al-Hajjaj) walked in between me and my father (Ibn `Umar). I said to him, "If you want to follow the Sunna then deliver a brief sermon and hurry up for the stay at `Arafat." He started looking at `Abdullah (Ibn `Umar) (inquiringly), and when `Abdullah noticed that, he said that he had told the truth Bukhari in the book AlHajj 1660,1663 ,and ALnessaie in rituals 3009 ,3005 and Malik in ALHajj 911
