A Bouquet Out of history
From the era of the Righty Guided caliphs in the time of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him , Till the end of the Abbasid State (Abbasid Caliphate)

بِهِمْ أَتمَّ نَكْبَةَ الكُتَّابِ(3)
ثُمَّ ثَلاثُونَ وَ سِتٌّ عُمْـرُهُ(5)
وَ تَرَكَ الأَمْرَ إِلى دَوْلَتِهِ(6)
وَ حَكَّمَ الوَاثِقُ ذُوْ أَصْحَابِ
وَخَمْسَةٌ مِنَ السِّنِينَ عَهْـدُهُ(4)
وَ لمْ يُخَلِّفْ أَحَدَاً مِنْ بَعْدِهِ

Obv.
There is no diety except
(the one) God alone

- In The Name of God. This dirham was struck in Madinat Samarqand in the year thirteen and two hundred. (230)
- To God is the will before and after and on that day the believers shall rejoice in God's victory

God
al-Wathiq bi-Allah
Marginal Legend:
Muhammad is the messenger of God. He sent him with guidance and the true religion to reveal it to all religions even if the polytheists abhor it
(1) He is Al Wathik bi'llah, Abii Jaa'far (and it is also said, Abu'l Kasim) bin al Mua'tasim, bin ar Rashi bin Mohammed Mehdi Ben Mansour.
(2) He assumed the Caliphate according before the death of his father. Allegiance was sworn to him in the Wednesday the 8th of Rabii' I in the year 227a.h.(albedaia w alnehaia 10/280),and said according to testament of his father in Thursday 18th of Rabii' I in the year 227 a.h (The completed History 6/73).
Al Wathik died at Surra man raa "he who sees it is delighted" (Samarra) in Wednesday the 24th of Dhu'l alHijjah in the year 232. (Albedaia w alnehaia 10/308) (The completed History 6/91).
(3) The author may be meant in his poem that , Al-Wathiq followed his father Al Muta’sim in the Catastrophe and Inquisition(mehna) regarding the creation of Quran .Ibn Kathir said: Al-Khatib said: Abi Duad influenced al Wathik and urged him to severity in the inquisition ,and summoned the people to confess that the Quran was created .Said: and It is said that al Wathik retraced his steps before his death. Told me Abdullah Bin Abi Al-Fath who told Ahmed bin Ibrahim bin Al-Hassan that Ibrahim bin Mohammed Bin Arfa heard from Hamid bin Abbas heard from a man that Al-Mahdi told that Al-Wathiq has repented from the say of creation of the Quran before he died .a.h (Albedaia w alnehaia 10/309).
I say that no doubt that the ‘chain’ of the narrators of the above hadith are unknown, and if it is true what mentioned in it, why Ibn Abi Duad stayed until near death and would call the apostate to repent. Allah only knows the truth.
When the author said -Du Ashab- he meant the fellows of Ibn Abi Du’ad , who maintained the doctrine that the Qur'an was created , and by saying Nakbat ALKutab( the writers Catastrophe) he meant the plight of scholars .and Allah knows the true meaning .
(4) His Caliphate lasted for five years , nine months and five days. some said five years, two months and twenty-one days(ALbedaia w alnehaia 10/310)(the completed history 6/92).
(5) His age when died thirty two, and said thirty six (ALbedaia w alnehaia 10/310)(the completed history 6/92).
